
[Daegu=Newsis] Reporter Lee Sang-je = Jung-gu, Daegu City announced on the 21st that Dongseong-ro and Seomun Market were selected as the ‘2025-2026 Korea Tourism 100’.
‘Korea Tourism 100’ is a project jointly selected by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization, and is announced every two years by comprehensively considering domestic travel trends, the appeal of tourist destinations, and the acceptance system.
Dongseong-ro is a modern and vibrant space that is the center of Daegu’s culture, shopping, and Korean Wave content. Dongseong-ro was also selected as the ‘2023-2024 Korea Tourism 100’, and in July of last year, the Dongseong-ro area was designated as the first tourism special zone in the region.
Seomun Market is a representative downtown traditional market in Daegu, and is well known for its abundant food and lively night market. Since being selected as the ‘Star of Korea Tourism’ in 2017, it has been continuously listed on the Korea Tourism 100 since 2019.
Meanwhile, another representative tourist attraction of Jung-gu, Kim Gwang-seok Re-drawing Road, was selected as one of the ‘Local 100 (100 Local Cultural Attractions)’ by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in October of last year.
Ryu Gyu-ha, the head of Jung-gu, said, “The fact that Dongseong-ro and Seomun Market were selected as the ‘100 Korean Tourist Attractions’ consecutively means that Jung-gu has once again been recognized for its infinite potential as a representative local tourist attraction,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to grow into a representative tourist city of Korea and attract domestic and international tourists.”
